Webb Tours is again excited to offer our popular Canadian Rockies tour. This trip combines the charm of Seattle, San Juan Islands, and Victoria with the incredible scenery of the Canadian Rockies (with its picturesque lakes, glaciers and wildlife) and the beauty of Waterton and Glacier National Parks. Daily Itinerary
July 6: Salt Lake to Seattle: This morning we'll board our flight to Seattle, the jewel of the Northwest. We'll see some city highlights (including the Ballard Locks, Pikes Market, Puget Sound and more). In the afternoon we'll take a very interesting tour of the Boeing airplane factory (in Everett) housed in the largest building in the world (fascinating). Our hotel is about 30 minutes away in Mt. July 7: Seattle to Victoria: This morning we'll get an early start as we board our 8:30 ferry to San Juan Island, the main island in the San Juan Islands. It is a scenic cluster of islands between Washington State and Vancouver Island. We'll be met by a local guide who will spend 2 1/2 hours with us showing us this beautiful island including stops at the Lavender Fields, alpaca farm, historic Roche Harbor & more. After time for a charming lunch you'll have an hour or so for shopping and looking around. At 3:50, we'll take a one hour ferry ride to the town of Sydney, on Vancouver Island. From here, it's only 20 minutes into the lovely city of Victoria. This is Canada's most gentle city. You'll love the uncluttered streets, gardens that bloom year-round, ocean views, innumerable flower beds and the wonderful climate. We'll have dinner and relax tonight in our hotel that enjoys an excellent location near the harbor right in town. Tour to pay for light breakfast, ferry rides and island tour today.
July 8: Victoria all day: This morning we'll enjoy a tour of Victoria provided by Mr. Goertz who lives in Victoria. There is much to show you. Our tour will end at the harbor where we’ll enjoy lunch in a remarkable setting on the top floor of the Vista Hotel, overlooking the harbor. After lunch, we'll drive to Butchart Gardens, perhaps the most famous gardens in the world. There are 49 acres of garden paradise. We'll have plenty of time to stroll the lovely paths of this Garden of Eden. We'll return to our hotel for dinner and free time tonight to enjoy the exciting Inner Harbor area. July 9: Victoria to Vancouver: We'll take the 9:00 ferry over to Vancouver this morning, arriving by 11:00. We'll drive into historic Gastown where you'll have some free time for lunch and browsing in a very interesting area. In the afternoon, we'll have a chance to enjoy some of the highlights of this beautiful city like Stanley Park, the Lion's Gate Bridge and more. The highlight of the afternoon will be a visit to the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge spanning a lovely gorge and river below. You'll be amazed at the beauty on the outskirts of Vancouver. Our hotel tonight is in the lovely Fraser Valley. A delicious dinner is included. Tour to pay for bridge, dinner and ferry crossing today.
July 10: Vancouver to Revelstoke: Today we'll make our way into the Rockies. Just an hour from the hotel is the lovely Minter Gardens. Many say that they like it more than Butchart Gardens. You be the judge. You will wonder why you’ve never heard of it. We'll arrive at our destination by 3:00 - you'll be in the beginnings of the Canadian Rockies. Our hotel tonight is the charming Three Valley Gap Chateau. The hotel sits on a lake with mountains on three sides and is adjacent to an authentic ghost town. The magnificence of the setting cannot be overstated. You'll have the afternoon to relax, take a walk, and just enjoy the setting. Tonight will be a treat as we enjoy a barbecue in the adjacent ghost town. Tour to pay for breakfast, Minter Gardens and dinner.
July 11: Revelstoke to Banff: This morning we will get an early start as we are in the HEART of the scenery. We'll stop at beautiful Emerald Lake and Natural Bridge. Just before lunch, we'll arrive at breathtaking Lake Louise, the most photographed spot in North America. The emerald colored lake with the Victoria Glacier in the background is quite a sight to see. We'll have lunch in the Lake Louise Chateau overlooking the lake. After lunch you'll have time to walk by the lake, rent a canoe, browse in the shops or just relax while you drink in the beauty. We'll make a photo stop at nearby Moraine Lake (flanked by seven glaciers) on our way into the Banff area. You'll have time on your own in town to browse, get dinner and enjoy this incredible scenic and interesting town. Our hotel for two nights is in nearby Canmore. Tour to pay for lunch today.
July 12: Columbia Ice Fields: This morning after a nice breakfast at our hotel, we'll enjoy an excursion into Jasper National Park and the Columbia Ice Fields. The Icefields Parkway is among the world’s most scenic drives, with views of mountains and lakes that are among the most dramatic in the world. Our destination is the spectacular Athabasca Glacier, a massive river of ice that continues inch its way south. We'll board the Snow Coaches and go onto the glacier (one of the few places in the world where one can do that). It is one of nature's most awesome sites. After a rest at the hotel, you'll have some more free time in Banff before enjoying a fun dinner together at Bufallo Bills. Tour to pay for Icefields and dinner today.
July 13: Calgary all day: After a leisurely breakfast, we'll head for Calgary which is only 80 miles away. It's time for the STAMPEDE! You've heard much about the greatest outdoor show on earth and today you're going to see it. You'll have an hour or two to get lunch and browse the fairgrounds. At 1:30, we'll be in our reserved seats for the rodeo. And today is the FINAL day of the rodeo which means only the best cowboys remain and it’s the day when all the money is awarded. Even if you're not a rodeo fan, you'll have a ball! If you are a rodeo fan, you'll be in heaven. We'll have dinner and relax at our hotel. Tonight you’ll have the option to return to the fairgrounds and enjoy the famous Chuckwagon Races and an outdoor stage performance. There is singing, dancing, comedy and so much more. The show ends with an impressive fireworks display. Tour to pay for breakfast and Stampede Rodeo.
July 14: Calgary to Waterton: After resting this morning (from our late night last night) we'll drive toward beautiful Waterton, making a rest stop in Cardston for lunch. Shortly after lunch, we'll be in breathtaking Waterton, at the entrance to Waterton Lakes National Park. This park was established in 1895 and you'll enjoy this magnificent setting. Waterton Lake, with the Rockies in the background is quite a sight to see. This afternoon, we'll board the Waterton Shoreline boat and cruise through the peaceful waters, across the international border, and back to the town. This is a great way to see the scenery, and often some natural wildlife (last year we saw four bears). Afterwards, we'll have time to browse in the town before relaxing at the hotel. Just before dusk, you’ll have an option to join your guide for a “bear hunt”. We find black bears about 70% of the time. Tour to pay for breakfast and boat ride.
July 15: Waterton to Glacier National Park: This morning's breakfast is at the quaint Kilmore Lodge. We'll then depart for Glacier National Park and board the park vehicles, affectionately named "Jammers" (1920 refurbished convertibles). Guides will provide interesting commentary as we travel over Logan Pass on the "Going to the Sun" road. You've seen much incredible scenery so far and today's views are equally breathtaking. This 50 mile stretch of road through the middle of the park is truly awesome to see. We'll enjoy stops in different areas of the park. Our hotel tonight is in Missoula. Tour to pay for breakfast and park tour.
July 16: Missoula to Salt Lake: Today our tour comes to an end as we drive back to Salt Lake. We'll arrive about 5:00 this evening. You will have seen some of the most incredible scenery in the world. You will have made memories to last a lifetime. Tour to pay for breakfast.
