May 21-22:  With great anticipation today, we’ll gather for our Delta Airlines flight through Amsterdam to Helsinki, Finland.  We’ll arrive in the evening of May 15 and transfer to our hotel.  A fabulous journey awaits.  In flight meals today

May 23:  Helsinki is a beautiful city positioned on a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland.  This morning a local guide will join us to show us this intriguing city.  We’ll see the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress (a UNESCO Heritage Site), the Market Square, Parliament and much more.  After a fun lunch, we’ll travel through the heavily wooded suburbs and enjoy a session at the Helsinki Temple (the first of six sessions).  We will then transfer to the ferry terminal in Helsinki and board our Viking Line ship for a 16 hour overnight journey to Stockholm, including your private stateroom for sleeping.  Dinner is included on the ship.  Breakfast and dinner are included today.

May 24:  The Swedish capital’s beauty is due to its unique setting on fourteen islands between Lake Malaren and the Baltic Sea.   We’ll enjoy a walking tour of the old town which features the Royal Palace, Riddarholm Church and the festive blue and gold chambers in the City Hall, where the annual Nobel Prize banquet is held.   We’ll see some of the old and the new Stockholm.  In the afternoon, we’ve included admission to one of the most interesting museums in Europe:  The Vasa Museum.  The museum displays the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628.  It is fascinating to see a slice of perfectly preserved life from the early 1600’s!  You’ll have a free evening in the Stockholm area tonight.  Breakfast and museum are included today.

May 25:  We’ll get an early start today as we have a 9;00 session scheduled at the Stockholm Temple in Vasterhaninge.  The setting and building are exquisite.  We’ll have lunch in the town after our session.  This afternoon we enjoy the countryside of western Sweden.  We’ll enjoy lakes, woods and rolling hills as we travel.  Some of our drive will take us along the shores of beautiful Lake Vattern.  In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Gothenberg where we’ll have a brief orientation tour before checking in to our hotel.  Breakfast is included today.

May 26:  Today we take an enjoyable ferry ride into Denmark.  We’ll enjoy views of Hamlet’s Kronborg Castle at Elsinore.  After checking into our Copenhagen hotel, we’ll have a quick lunch followed by an afternoon session in the Copenhagen Temple.  We’ll share the interesting history before our visit.  We’ll then check into our hotel and relax this evening.  Breakfast and dinner are included today.

May 27:  We’ll have a chance to attend Sacrament Meeting today Copenhagen with the local members.  Many of us have Danish ancestors who migrated from Denmark.  The church history in this area is intriguing and inspirational.  After we change and have lunch, we’ll enjoy a guided sightseeing tour which begins at the Church of our Lady where we can see Torvaldsen’s original Christus statue.  We then have a chance to visit the fairy tale Castle Rosenborg that is surrounded by a beautiful park and rose garden.   This evening you can rest if you’d like, or enjoy an optional visit to Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen’s famous entertainment/amusement park which is a fun place to enjoy some beautiful gardens, short stage acts, get some dinner and observe the local folks.  It is a cultural must in Copenhagen.  Breakfast and local tour included today.

May 28:   We’ll leave at 8:00 today passing through North Zealand (with some picture stops to view impressive castles and countryside).  We then continue our drive through the unique and pleasant landscapes of Denmark.  Organized, tidy towns and wooded vistas bring us to the Baltic Sea where we take a ferry across the Fehmarn Belt Strait and continue into Germany. In the early afternoon, we arrive in one of my favorite towns in Europe:  Lubeck, Germany. You’ll have some time for browsing and lunch on your own. A local guide will join us from 3-5 to share some of the interesting history of the town.  Old town Lubeck is a UNESCO World Heritage site, founded in 1143.  It sits on an island surrounded by the Trave River boasting fascinating medieval architecture, narrow lanes and streets, churches and abbeys, merchants' houses and fortifications – all coming together to form a remarkable gem that you won’t soon forget.  Breakfast and dinner are included today.

May 29:  Today is mostly a travel day, but a pleasant one.  We’ll make a rest stop in Hamburg before continuing across northern Germany and into the Netherlands.  We’ll pass through Amsterdam (showing you a few things), but we’re staying in the charming town of Delft outside of Amsterdam and close to the temple.  This is home to Delftware and a charming main square where we’ll turn you loose for a fun dinner (many restaurants to choose from).  Breakfast is included today

May 30:  This morning we’ll enjoy a session at the temple in The Hague which is just a few miles away.  We’ll then return to the hotel to change and check out.  After lunch in the main square, we’ll have a tour of the nearby Delftware factory.  Famous the world over, this Dutch pottery is made here and the tour is quite interesting.  We’ll also make an interesting stop at the Aalsmeer Flower Auction which is a must in this area.  This evening, we transfer to the ferry terminal known as the “Hook of Holland” and board our overnight ferry to England.  Again, we sleep in our private rooms during the nine hour crossings.  We arrive in Harwich at 6:30 AM.  Breakfast and dinner are included today.

May 31:  Welcome to England where we’ll spend the rest of our tour.  It’s about a two hour ride into London.  You can rest on the way in.  We’ll have some fish and chips in Picadilly Circus.  In the afternoon we’ll take you to Hyde Park, and the iconic sites along the River Thames including Parliament and Big Ben and give you some time in this historic area. Our hotel tonight is near the London Temple.  After checking in, we’ll enjoy an evening session together in England’s first temple.  It’s a tranquil setting for a beautiful temple.  Breakfast and lunch included today.

June 1:  Today we’ll travel through the countryside of the Midlands into the famous Cotswold villages.   These are some of England’s greatest treasures. We’ll enjoy some time for browsing and lunch in Broadway and also visit Chippen Camden if time permits. This is England as you pictured it.  Our afternoon drive takes us over to nearby Herefordshire, my favorite part of England.  Upon arrival here, Wilford Woodruff climbed to the top of beautiful Hereford Beacon and called the scene a “grand survey of the works of nature and the power of God”.   The natural beauty of the area cannot be overstated with green, rolling hills as far as the eye can see.  We’ll visit the Benbow Farm where the first baptisms in this area occurred.  The church has purchased a right away to the pond that is still there today.  We’ll also visit the historic Gadfield Elm Chapel which, when built, was the only chapel in the world.  Brigham Young taught here as a missionary in 1840 before there were church buildings in America.  We will stay in Hereford this evening.  Breakfast and dinner are included at the hotel.

June 2:  This morning we will drive three hours north and enjoy a session in the beautiful Preston Temple.  This is where the church had its beginnings in England.  When Heber C. Kimball and others arrived in Liverpool, they made their way to Preston.  In the town square was a banner that read “Truth will Prevail”.  The temple now stands as a monument to their faith and efforts.  We’ll have lunch (in the cafeteria) followed by a session.  Before going to the hotel, we’ll visit the River Ribble where the first baptisms took place.  Breakfast and lunch are included today.

June 3:  Today is Sunday.  We’ll attend sacrament meeting at a local ward.  From there, we will enjoy other important church sites and a 50 minute drive over to Liverpool where we’ll have a look at the Albert Docks.  From here, thousands of saints boarded ships for their journey to America.  There are excellent exhibits highlighting the migrations of the saints in the 1840’s and beyond.  It’s a touching place to visit.  We have a farewell dinner tonight as our tour comes to an end.  Breakfast and dinner are included today.

June 4:  This morning we transfer to the Manchester Airport for our flight back to the USA.  It’s a travel experience we’ll never forget.  We have a connecting flight in Amsterdam followed by a non stop flight from Amsterdam to Salt Lake.   Breakfast included

This tour is a unique combination of scenery, culture, LDS History and visits to the temples.  We’ll learn about the history of the church in each area, see the sites that were important in church history and ponder their sacrifice as we visit the different temples.  We think it will be a very memorable travel experience and will do our best to ensure that it exceeds your expectations.
