September 18: Welcome to Spain! After a good night’s rest, we’ll take you on a day trip north of the city to the charming town of Segovia where we’ll visit the famous Alcazar that dates from the 12th Century. The architecture, setting and history make this a MUST SEE while in Spain. You’ll have time for lunch and browsing in the charming medieval streets. We’ll also show you the famous Roman Aqueduct that is still intact from the Roman times. We return to Madrid for a rest. This evening, we’ll attend a session at the Madrid Temple. B.
September 19: One hour south of Madrid is the medieval town of Toledo which dates to Roman times – and it is fascinating. The narrow streets, well preserved architecture and more make this a UNESCO city that is fabulous to see. We’ll enjoy a guided tour and you’ll have some free time to browse and wander the intricate streets. In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive at the airport for our short flight from Madrid to Rome. We transfer to our hotel where we stay for two nights. B, D
For those beginning in ITALY, your tour begins on September 18.

We’ll stop at the fabulous St. Paul’s Basilica on the way in (and the catacombs if time permits). After checking into our hotel, you’ll meet the other tour participants (that started in Spain). An exciting experience awaits. B, D
September 20: WELCOME TO ROME! This morning, we will show you the most famous sites of Rome including the Colosseum, The Forum, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and St. Peter’s Square, with a peek inside St. Peter’s Basillica. After a brief rest at the hotel, we’ll enjoy a session at the fabulous Rome Temple, dedicated in March, 2019. It is exciting to see one of our temples in the shadow of the Vatican, and the only temple in a Biblical land. You have heard much about it – wait until you see it. In my opinion, it is among the most beautiful temples (and buildings) anywhere in the world. We stay in Rome again tonight. B
September 21: We’ll spend another half day in Rome. There is much to see and do. After lunch at Eataly, we’ll drive north to Florence. We’ll make a stop at Piazza Michelangelo with a stunning overlook of Florence dominated by the Cathedral and the River Arno. Our hotel is in Florence tonight. B, L
September 22: A local guide will meet us today to show us one of the world’s greatest cities. The history that took place here changed the world forever. Our 3 hour walking tour takes us by the iconic places in this great city – like the Duomo, the Baptistry, the River Arno (Ponte Vecchio), Palazzo Vecchio, and a chance to see The David in the Academy. (Note: A fair amount of walking is required to see Florence as coaches are not allowed into the center of the city). After a late lunch in the local marketplace, we’ll continue to Bologna where we spend the evening. B, D
September 23: This morning we skirt around Milan and head for the Italian Lakes District with mountain scenes, lakeside towns and hillsides dotted with private villas. After lunch, we have included a boat ride to Isola Bella, one of the Borromean Islands in the middle of Lake Maggiore. The island is quite small and split between a fabulous palace, manicured Italian gardens and a quaint fishing village. We then continue into nearby Switzerland, over the Simplon Pass and into one of the great world destinations: Zermatt. B
September 24: There is simply no place on earth like Zermatt and no mountain like the Matterhorn. This is a pedestrian town and the only place you can see the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Our morning excursion takes us on the Gornergrat, Europe’s highest railway, which takes us closer to the base of the Matterhorn. The views can’t be overstated. You have free time this afternoon to enjoy Zermatt as you wish – there is lots to do. Dinner is included tonight. B, D.
September 25: We’ll get an early start today as there is much to see. A fabulous 90 minute train ride takes us from Zermatt, through the mountain into Spiez, Switzerland. Nearby is charming Interlaken and (in my opinion) the most beautiful valley in Europe! It’s called the Lauterbrunnen Valley and it is spectacularly situated with steep mountains on three sides, flanked by the majestic Jungfrau Massif, three of the most famous mountains in the Alps (Monch, Jungfrau, Eiger). While in the valley, we’ll take you to the stunning Trumelbach Falls which is a series of 10 waterfalls that cascade INSIDE a mountain. It is a spectacular natural wonder. We continue into Bern where we’ll show you the a bit of this medieval town, the famous Rose Gardens (wait until you see the view) and the Bear Pits. We’ll see the centuries old streets (including Einstein’s house) and the famous medieval clock tower. We stay in Bern tonight. B

We’ll have some time to explore the incredible beauty of this area. Our hotel is further north near the city of Nuremberg. B, D
September 27: Today we’ll show you some important history and beauty in Nuremberg before taking a pleasant drive through the center of Germany. The tidy towns, manicured fields and sweeping countryside make this a very pleasant journey as we make our way to the small town of Freiberg. We’ll check in, change, and enjoy a session at the Freiberg, Germany Temple. Few temples, if any, have a story like this to tell. The history of the church behind the Iron Curtain is interesting to revisit. B
September 28: Today is Saturday. By late morning, we’ll be in Eisenach where we have a reserved visit at Wartburg Castle. This isn’t just any castle, this is the place where Martin Luther was exiled and where he translated the Bible from Latin to German. The views from the castle are stunning. We’ll then continue into Frankfurt where we’ll have tickets to the Frankfurt Temple Open House. This is the last day of the Open House. We will have dinner together tonight at our hotel. B, D
September 29: We’ll attend Sacrament Meeting this morning. In the late morning, a local guide will join us. We’ll visit the Guttenburg Museum in nearby Mainz and we’ll show you Romerbergplatz – the main square in the heart of Frankfurt. The holy roman emperors were all crowned here and there are important things to learn and see. We stay in the Frankfurt area again tonight. B
September 30: We are off to France! After lunch, we’ll make an afternoon stop in the town of Reims where we’ll visit the monstrosity which is the gothic Reims Cathedral. It is definitely worth a look. We then continue into Paris where we’ll stay for TWO nights in the suburbs, not far from the temple. B
October 1: A local guide will join us today and show us the City of Lights. There is no place like Paris – whether for your first of fifth time. We’ll take some lovely strolls and enjoy the places that makes Paris the world class city that it is. In the late afternoon, we’ll make a visit to the gardens of Versailles. The opulent palace and lavish gardens were home to the French Monarchs for centuries. Its unusual luxury led to the French Revolution that doomed the French monarchy. After time for dinner, we’ll attend an evening session at the Paris Temple which is less than a mile from Versailles. We will enjoy a farewell dinner tonight as we prepare to travel home tomorrow. B.
